Monthly Meetings

Meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month (except July & August) at St. David's United Church, 3303 Capitol Hill Crescent N.W., Calgary, AB. (Ten times annually). The annual general meeting is held in September.
View Larger Map Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. Please use the ramp door or door facing Crowchild Trail. The doors must remain locked at this Church, so please knock VERY LOUD on the door so our greeter can show you to the meeting. If you don't know anyone, just introduce yourself! We are a friendly bunch and love seeing guests and new members at Club meetings! Guests are welcome to one complementary meeting.

The Club provides (at no charge) snacks and refreshments at the meetings.

Each meeting features a speaker or presentation, an intermission to mingle, buy raffle and/or 50/50 tickets (not all meetings), check out the resource table, as well as plenty of time to socialize and meet the parrots and their caregivers. All monetary transactions are cash or cheque, no credit is extended.

The CPC and its members are participating in the Pennies 4 Parrots challenge. Funds raised will be directed to a specific conservation project each year. Remember to bring your pennies and change to donate to this vital project.

We strive to make each meeting as informative, interesting and informal as possible. In addition to a variety of knowledgeable and professional speakers and demonstrators at the monthly meetings, we host a pizza night and a December potluck dinner.

Member parrots are encouraged to meetings for socialization if: a) the person bringing the parrot is a member in good standing. b) the parrot has been given a clean bill of health by a certified avian veterinarian in the past 12 months* and has not been ill. c) the parrot must be under control at all times, either by having wings clipped or by harness. Flighted parrots that fly during meetings will be requested to be placed into their travel cage for the duration of the meeting. d) clean up after your parrot. e) do not leave your parrot unattended. f) you have asked permission from our Membership Director or coordinator. FYI: You must notify the director or coordinator a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the meeting, and have received a confirmation response, in order for your parrot to attend. * Proof of health is on an honor system. The Calgary Parrot Club and its board of directors does not assume any liability therefore your parrot visits are at your own risk.

Please remember parrot etiquette (a parrot etiquette sign is posted at each meeting, please respect your fellow members and their parrots by following the Club guidelines). Look, but don't touch without permission from the owner. Remember parrots can bite and are handled at your own risk. The Calgary Parrot Club and its directors assumes no liability. As a caregiver if you are aware your parrot has a tendency to bite please be responsible and do not bring it to Club functions. Wash your hands with antibacterial cleaner before and after handling anyone's parrot.
