Proposed Pet Store Sale Ban May Include - Birds
San Francisco city commission will vote to prohibit pet stores on the sale of dogs, cats and smaller animals like guinea pigs, hamsters and rats. It may also include birds, following the proposal put forth by a volunteer with the Mickaboo Bird Rescue organization.
These birds end up in shelters, on Craigslist, surrendered to rescues, set free, threatened to be set free, abandoned at vets.
Many birds end up being euthanized, just like other smaller animals, as reported by KGO-TV.
